Personal & Career Journey

Can you tell us about your path into interior design?

Born in the UK, I moved to Dubai in 2009 with my family, starting a new adventure that deeply influenced my career and passion for design. While raising three children, I worked at a local interior design firm, refining my skills and developing an eye for crafting beautiful spaces.

Alongside my husband, Jamie, my enthusiasm for design grew as we renovated homes and offices worldwide, fueling a deep love for creating unique living environments.

What inspired you to pursue a career in design?

I believe that every design can be a masterpiece of creativity and functionality.  Over time, my passion for crafting inspiring living spaces intertwined with my commitment to sustainability, reinforcing my desire to make a significant impact.

Influences & Inspirations

Who are your favorite designers, and how have the influenced your work?

There are so many incredible designers, but some of my top influences include:

Tom Dixon - A nod to my British roots, I love his bold, brave designs and use of colour.

Zaha Hadid - Her groundbreaking architectural approach resonates with me, and the mix of UK/Middle Eastern influences feels personal.

Pierre Yovanovich - His brave colour choices and sophisticated stye are truly inspiring.

Jamie and I also travel extensively, staying in some of the world's most remarkable hotels, absorbing different cultures and architecture. This continuous exposure keeps our creativity flowing and ensures we're always evolving.

What has been your biggest career highlight to date?

In 2020, we founded BBH Life and since then we have been dedicated to designing exquisite luxury homes in Dubai, Spain, USA and Portugal, alongside select clients who resonate with our vision of harmonious living. Expanding into Europe in recent years has been a particularly exciting milestone.

I love balancing landscape, architecture, and interiors, creating spaces that foster joy and tranquility while ensuring a strong connection with nature.

How do you stay inspired in such a competitive industry?

I immerse myself in the beauty of the world, drawing inspiration from nature, art, and diverse cultures. My passion for creating homes that last a lifetime drives me to continually push boundaries and innovate.

Do you have a signature style or design element you always incorporate?

Our signature style is calm, elevated and seamlessly flows throughout each villa we design.

Each home is designed exclusively and named after a location that holds personal significance to us.  We prioritize natural materials, sourced locally and incorporate a variety of textures to maintain a cool, inviting atmosphere.

Every design is deeply connected to the culture and climate of its inspiration-drawing from places we've personally experienced to ensure an authentic, harmonious aesthetic that enhances the lifestyle of its inhabitants.

Design Philosophy & Approach

What makes a house feel like a home?

Building a home is an emotional journey. At BBH Life, we believe in designing spaces that enrich lifestyles and foster a true sense of human connection and belonging.

While clever reconfiguration can enhance a home, we advocate for quiet luxury-choosing materials and designs that bring lasting comfort and identity, we do not place value on brands, and avoid filling our houses with designer labels, favouring the quality of bespoke. We are proud of being different and giving that unique vision to each of our clients.

What role does sustainability play in your designs?

Sustainability isn't a trend- its a core philosophy that shapes the future of our living environments.  This pursuit allows my passion to serve a purpose beyond aesthetics, striving to leave the world more beautiful and balanced for generations to come. Pursuing architecture and design has become my way to inspire change and reimagine what's possible.

What’s your approach to working with color and texture in a space?

I start by understanding the client's vision and how they want their space to feel.

Colours- Set the mood -vibrant hues energise, while muted tones create tranquility. Colours are used throughout the home to create balance and harmony.

Textures- Add depth-natural wood, plush fabrics, and stone help craft a layered, sensory experience.

Natural Stone in Design

What draws you to incorporating natural stone in your designs?

We love using natural materials-they're timeless, textural, and deeply connected to nature.  Stone is incredibly versatile, from Kitchen counters to statement furniture pieces.

Which types of stone do you love working with?

Limestone & Travertine-Beautiful colours, versatile natural.

Onyx-We've been incorporating this more for its dramatic, backlit effect, creating a stunning glow in spaces.

What are the biggest advantages of using natural stone in furniture or interiors?

Overall, natural stone has a unique ability to blend function with beauty. Whether you’re looking to create a refined, luxury environment or a cosy, earthy space, it has the flexibility to meet both aesthetic and practical needs.

It’s the perfect material for designers who appreciate craftsmanship, authenticity, and longevity.

What advice do you give clients on maintaining and caring for natural stone tables?

Seal Regularly (especially for porous stones including some mables and limestone)

Use coasters & placemats to prevent stains.

Clean gently with mild soap and water- avoid harsh chemicals.

Wipe spills quickly to prevent long term damage.

Do you have a favorite project where you used natural stone prominently?

We use natural stone in all our projects, but our Jumeirah Golf Estates homes particularly embrace stone's beauty.  The desert surroundings and the golf course setting complement the material perfectly.

Final Thoughts

How do you see natural stone evolving as a trend in interior design?

Natural stone will continue evolving toward sustainability and innovation.  Expect to see:

More reclaimed & responsibly sourced stone

New finishes enhancing durability

Stone being used in unexpected ways think furniture, wall art and mixed with other materials such as glass and steel for a more dynamic modern look.

The continued trend will likely blend timeless elegance with contemporary, functional design, offering both luxury and sustainability.

Thank you Bryonie, for sharing your insights and journey!
